Elementary School
What Makes BCS Special?
Bethany Christian School is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) We employ caring teachers interested in the child’s total growth--spiritual, academic, and emotional. An emphasis is placed on basic skills writing, mathematics, and reading (phonetic reading program). Our teachers are fully credentialed and every classroom has an aide. The maximum number of students in each class is 26 students. We emphasize excellent communication with parents. For students in grades 4-8, there is a 1-to-1 Chromebook loan program.
Specialist Opportunities
Students receive instruction from specialists in the areas of Spanish, Music, Art, Technology, Library and Physical Education. These specialists are excellent teachers who enrich our standard curriculum. For students in grades 4-6, leadership opportunities are provided through Student Council. Twice each year, students elect representatives to choose outreach projects and other enrichments days for the entire student body. We also offer enrichment classes through our After-School Programs which are taken on a paid basis. In the past we have offered classes from outside professionals such as cooking, karate, robotics, and guitar. Two enrichment trips are taken, one to Astrocamp in grade 5, the other is to Outdoor School in grade 6. There are many athletic opportunities at Bethany. Fifth and sixth graders are encouraged to join our after-school sports program where teams engage with other schools in the area. Sports include basketball, soccer, flag football, and volleyball. On occasion, we pull from grade 4 as well.
Spiritual Life
Our favorite day of the week is when all students in K-8 gather together for a weekly chapel service. Chapels are often student led. Guest speakers present to the student body, as well. Our goal is to place God first in every activity on campus. We provide a loving environment without sacrificing discipline. Daily activities are constant opportunities for our teacher to share biblical truths
